Peterson Sawmills Expands UK Reach with New Regional Agents, Strengthening Local Timber Milling in Devon and South Wales

Peterson Portable Sawmills, leading manufacturer of swing blade sawmills, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new partnership as their Agent in the United Kingdom: Grantland Timber under the guidance of Jerry Andrada of Devon and Tom Jones of South Wales.

Hands-On Experience is Petersons’ preferred choice in any representation. As demand grows across the UK for small-scale, mobile sawmilling, Peterson is delighted to invest in practical people – those who not only know the tools but live the trade. Jerry and Tom are working sawmillers on the job, offering advice, demonstrations, and support from real experience.

Jerry Andrada, based in Devon, has a background in arboriculture, forestry and farming. Disheartened by environmental damage in commercial tree work, he moved into woodland management and sustainable farming. He’ll be running a Peterson ASM (Automated Swingblade Mill) and DWS (Dedicated Wide Slabber) in one of the UK’s most remote areas – the west coast of Scotland. Jerry aims to set up a mobile network to promote domestic timber and ecological resilience. “We need to show that UK-grown timber isn’t second-rate. It’s just underused,” he says.

Tom Jones, operating out of the South Wales Valleys, has combined his solid fuel trade with a lifelong passion for woodworking. Self-taught and resourceful, Tom built his milling experience from the ground up, restoring old equipment, before stepping up to Peterson’s JP (Junior Peterson) mill. His workshop is fully kitted out for custom jobs and contract milling across the UK and beyond.

The two partners have been complimenting each other’s work and trade for more than five years now, with Jerry’s strengths lying in timber conversion and artistic creation, while Tom is the self-confessed mechanic “I can literally fix anything you throw at me” he claims.

Both partners praise Peterson for practical support and down-to-earth communication. “You wouldn’t know they’re on the other side of the world,” says Tom. “They’ve kept it simple, clear and focused.” Jerry agrees. “They made it easy, and they stood by their word.”

With mills running in multiple UK locations, Peterson customers will now have more opportunities than ever to get hands-on with the equipment. Potential buyers can ask questions about real performance, receive personal training, and retain post-sale support directly from experienced millers.

“I am delighted to work with Tom and Jerry,” says Peterson CEO Kerris Browne. “Their drive and enthusiasm, combined with their youth and education, is a breath of fresh air. I honestly can’t portray how lucky we are to have Tom and Jerry in this role. They’ve already operated other sawmill brands extensively, so UK enquiries will benefit from real life comparisons. Plus, they create a powerful partnership by being in two locations, offering world-class sawmilling solutions and servicing a wider area for us.”

Jerry and Tom are currently available for consultations and advice – whether you’re a seasoned contractor or just getting into timber, they have invaluable experience and advice on the tools and how they can fit into your work.
