Peterson Portable Sawmills is proud to announce an exclusive distribution partnership with Wallenstein Equipment in Canada. Under the new agreement, Wallenstein will serve as the exclusive distributor of the Junior Peterson (JP) portable sawmill across Canada and the North eastern United States.
The collaboration brings Peterson’s 35+ years of sawmill innovation directly to Wallenstein’s 30+ years of an established Canadian manufacturing and customer base, expanding its existing lineup of high quality forestry and outdoor power equipment with a premium, field proven portable mill.
Peterson CEO Kerris Browne says the partnership is a natural fit. “We are very pleased to be working with Wallenstein. Their experienced team, excellent facilities, and strong industry knowledge make them an ideal partner. Our Canadian customers will now benefit from the local support, service, and accessibility that comes from working with such a well established dealer network across the country,” Browne said.

Kerris Browne first reached out to Wallenstein in early 2024 after extensive market research identified them as a values aligned partner. “The Wallenstein company just seemed to connect with our values — their people, their support of small family businesses, and their down to earth approach,” she explained. “We could also see they were already known in the marketplace for higher quality products. Their dealer network was comfortable selling quality equipment, so that fit our sawmill brand perfectly.”

Wallenstein Equipment CEO Paul Weber echoed the enthusiasm for the partnership. “When Peterson approached us, we recognized an immediate fit for our product line and our customers,” Weber said, “Instead of introducing a standard, run of the mill bandsaw, partnering with Peterson allows us to deliver a field proven, premium milling solution that aligns perfectly with our standards of quality.”
Matt Fallis, in his new role of Ontario Sales Manager, has enjoyed the process of collaborating with Petersons, “What a great product! I can’t say I’ve seen a unit like this anywhere in my territory – typically we come across many different bandsaw units. To echo Kerris’ comments, I do feel the JP product fits well with our product line and our market”.

To officially launch the partnership, Peterson’s CEO and Sawmill Specialist will travel from New Zealand to Canada for the rollout in September. These sessions will provide hands on training to 30+ of Wallenstein’s handpicked Peterson Dealers, to showcase how the JP sawmill can integrate seamlessly with Wallenstein’s current range of products for landowners, farmers, and forestry professionals. There will also be several public demonstrations across Canada. Peterson Sawmill Specialist, Chris Browne, the most experienced swingblade sawmill specialist in the world having spent over 37 years building and designing in the industry, says, “I’m really looking forward to this trip, to meet the Wallenstein crew and Dealers, and to demonstrate what this little mill can do, and how. I’d also like to welcome our existing owners to come by and say ‘Hi’ at the shows, and I’d love to help out with any technical questions you have.”
“These are exciting times for both Wallenstein and Peterson as we look forward to a long future together,” Kerris Browne added. “Canada is a market well suited to our product, and with Wallenstein’s strong promotional channels and excellent customer service, our customers can look forward to being very well looked after.”
The Junior Peterson portable sawmill will be available through Wallenstein’s distribution network starting September 2026. Half of the first shipment of 25 units has already been earmarked for dealers, so customers interested in purchasing a JP mill are encouraged to secure their order early.
