Product Description

The Winch Production Frame (WPF) was designed as a productive yet affordable swingblade portable sawmill. Cutting high quality, extremely accurate timber with portable or fixed-site milling. It is the most versatile portable sawmill for durability in any weather.

The WPF is the only swingblade sawmill in the world, manufactured using high quality, hand polished stainless steel and aluminium, providing a virtually rust free sawmill. Using stronger, lighter materials also means the mills are robust in performance, and substantially increases their portability.

An adaptation of the original Peterson portable sawmill, the WPF has upgrades for extra wide logs to extra long logs, moving from log to log or milling a stockpile of logs, and even for wide slabbing or tapered weatherboards.

With a range of cut sizes up to 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ standard, or 11 1/2″ x 24 1/2″ for double cuts, you can cut wide boards comparable to a bandsaw, but without having to turn the log or resaw a single board. Peterson thin-kerf blades cut straight and true, meaning you can use timber straight off the mill without losing any further recovery to rejects or thicknessing.

Utilizing an open sawmilling area, the Peterson WPF means easier access to your logs. All this, combined with technology that allows a vast array of waste-reducing cut sizes, means the Peterson WPF can be tailored for almost any application. With design features that enable the operator to work more efficiently while allowing for future upgrades such as giant frame extensions, track upgrades or even a clip-on slabbing kit, it is little wonder that the Peterson WPF is our best selling model, for personal or commercial use.

Features

Cut Wide Boards with Ease

Mill dimensional timber up to 11 1/2″ x 24 1/2″ (295mm x 630mm) by Double Cutting. A double cut is the joining of two horizontal cuts together to obtain a wider board or slab using both sides of the blade, doubling your maximum width cut without the need to turn the log or mill around!

No Log Turning Involved

Whether utilising a Peterson Clip-on Chainsaw Slabber or simply milling the entire log for dimensional timber requirements or beams, you can maximise every inch of your log and quarter saw all day long without the need for extra machinery or log turning. And every board will be straight and true.

Single Point Height Adjustment

This system allows the operator to lower all four corners of the mill equally from one position at the operator’s end of the mill, saving time and improving accuracy. A big selling point over the Lucas type mills. The manual, single point winch system, may be upgraded to electric on the WPF.

Unbeatable Quality and Durability

Manufactured using high quality, hand polished stainless steel and aluminium, providing a virtually rust free sawmill. Using stronger, lighter materials also means the mills are robust in performance, and most importantly – have long-term durability in even the harshest conditions. Take a peek inside the Peterson factory here.

Rigid, Extendable, Adaptable Track System

Utilizing a custom extrusion, the standard Lo/Lo ground based tracks offered with the WPF allow you to cut standard logs up to 6.3m in length with the option to upgrade to a Hi/Lo set up for semi fixed-site versatility. The box-type frame is proven to be the most rigid, eliminating verical or horizontal sway. You can extend your tracks at anytime to increase production, while maintaining accuracy and portability. Double length tracks allow loading logs at one end while milling at the other without compromising accuracy and cut speed.

For the BIG LOG Chasers

Because Petersons custom make each and every sawmill, you have the option at the time of purchase to upgrade your WPF to a Giant Frame which allows you to cut even larger diameter logs up to 6.5ft (2m) or more!

The Peterson Edge

With every Peterson Sawmill you get over 35 years of innovation, quality and high performing features

Accurate, Safe Sizing

All Peterson Portable Sawmills left/right sizing system is run by chain and sprocket, with a turning handle and lock. So that means it will only move when you unlock it, and you can position the sizing very accurately to within 1mm. No slippage, and top accuracy for every board.

Durable, Low Maintenance Blades

Our Peterson Blades last for 2-6 years with normal use and maintenance. However, some swing blade sawmill owners have been using the same blades for over 10 years! To decrease downtime, the Peterson blade can be sharpened while it is still on the mill; in less than 10 minutes, and without having to remove any guards.

Elevated Engines with Cyclonic Air Filters

We mount our sawmill engines higher than other manufacturers to ensure the air filter intake is further away from the sawdust output, helping prevent sawdust build up and overheating of the motor. Specifying Cyclonic Air Filters to separate clean air from debris and liquids also helps to improve the lifespan of your engine, with the added bonus that these filters last up to three times longer than standard duty filters.

Built to Last

All Peterson Sawmills are manufactured from scratch in our Rotorua, New Zealand factory and come standard with a 24-month return-to-factory warranty on the frame which includes all bed framing, track and carriage material manufactured by Petersons Global Sales Limited. We also offer an extended five-year frame warranty. This option can be included at time of purchase.
