Natural and straight edge slabs are more popular than ever and can be worth up to double the value of dimensional lumber! Slabs make eye-catching features as dining and board room tables, benches, bar tops and shelving.
Peterson Portable Sawmills have made slabbing simple with our Clip On Slabber chainsaw mill, enabling you to cut slabs within the solid frame of your Peterson JP, ATS, WPF or ASM Sawmill. Set up takes approx. 30-60mins first time then just 10-15 minutes thereafter.
This is a popular method of cutting for millers who want dimensional lumber AND a slab or two from the same log. When milling down to a suitable slab, simply swap the swingblade for the clip on slabber to get your slab then swap back and finish milling dimensional lumber!
The result is a slab that is the same thickness throughout, with a finish that requires very little sanding to achieve a perfectly smooth end-product. Slabs have become more sought-after in the past few years, with over 60% of sawmill purchasers opting for the Clip On Slabber to complement their dimensional mill.
We also have a Dedicated Wide Slabber available. The Dedicated Wide Slabber is not a swingmill sawmill like the rest of the range; its sole purpose is to cut logs into high value wide slabs (up to 6′ 1/4″ (1.9m) wide) using a chainsaw slabber style bar.
