Product Description

The Peterson DWS (Dedicated Wide Slabber) uses a chainsaw slabber style bar in a strong, accurate frame to produce fast, flat live edge slabs. It allows a much faster speed ratio than other slabbers, using a 404 ripping chain, or a multi skip tooth chain. It is consequently easier to push, faster at cutting, uses less fuel, is less likely to burn your bar, and has a longer chain life.

If you already have a large frame Peterson Sawmill like the WPF or ASM and are wanting to produce slabs commercially, the DWS chainsaw slabber unit operates in the same tracks and frame style so you can add it to an existing set-up or purchase together so that you can quickly change from dimensional sawing, to slabbing and back on the same log.

Features

Worlds Fastest Slabber

Until proven otherwise, the DWS can comfortably claim the title of fastest portable slabbing machine in the world. Capable of producing flat, consistent slabs at a rate of 6-30 slabs per hour; dependant on tree species and chain set-up.

For the BIG SLAB Chasers

Because Petersons custom make each and every sawmill, you have the option at the time of purchase to upgrade your WPF to a Giant Frame which allows you to cut even larger diameter logs up to 6.5ft (2m) or more!

Optional Automation

The DWS can be upgraded to an automated slabbing machine when built in the ASM track set-up. Upgrading to automation with the DWS is the most efficient way of getting accurate valuable slabs with minimal effort.

Unbeatable Quality and Durability

Manufactured using high quality, hand polished stainless steel and aluminum, providing a virtually rust free sawmill. Using stronger, lighter materials also means the mills are robust in performance, and most importantly – have long-term durability in even the harshest conditions.

Rigid, Adaptable Track System

Utilizing a custom extrusion, the standard Lo/Lo ground based tracks offered with the DWS allow you to cut logs up to 6m in length with the option to upgrade to a Hi/Lo set up for increased versatility or extend your tracks at anytime to increase production, while maintaining portability. Double length tracks allow loading logs at one end while milling at the other without compromising accuracy and cut speed.

The Peterson Edge

With every Peterson Sawmill you get over 30 years of innovation, quality and high performing features

Accurate, Safe Sizing

All Peterson Portable Sawmills left/right sizing system is run by chain and sprocket, with a turning handle and lock. So that means it will only move when you unlock it, and you can position the sizing very accurately to within 1mm. No slippage, and top accuracy for every board.

Durable, Low Maintenance Blades

Our Peterson Blades last for 2-6 years with normal use and maintenance. However, some swing blade sawmill owners have been using the same blades for over 10 years! To decrease downtime, the Peterson blade can be sharpened while it is still on the mill; in less than 10 minutes, and without having to remove any guards.

Elevated Engines with Cyclonic Air Filters

We mount our sawmill engines higher than other manufacturers to ensure the air filter intake is further away from the sawdust output, helping prevent sawdust build up and overheating of the motor. Specifying Cyclonic Air Filters to separate clean air from debris and liquids also helps to improve the lifespan of your engine, with the added bonus that these filters last up to three times longer than standard duty filters.

Built to Last

All Peterson Sawmills are manufactured in our Rotorua, New Zealand factory and come standard with a 24-month return-to-factory warranty on the frame which includes all bed framing, track and carriage material manufactured by Petersons Global Sales Limited. We also offer an extended five-year frame warranty. This option can be included at time of purchase.
